Resumo: The abrupt imposition of school quarantine around the world due to the pandemic situation has once again raised the debate on the digitization of education. Based on a first diagnosis on the situation on the eve of quarantine from different pieces of statistical research and on propposals and analysis from international organizations, a series of considerations are raised about the functions of the school apparatus and about the current possibilities of teachers’ labor process automation.
