Resumo: There is currently an antivacinas movement and that perhaps the genesis of this movement is anchored in aversive representations of vaccination immunisation that is accentuated and that reverberates with social networks. Compromising, therefore, in the reappearance of diseases considered extinct or controlled by the Ministry of Health. Thus, the main objective of this research is to identify and analyze the Social Representations of education of young people and adults students, from the periphery of the capital of Rio de Janeiro, about vaccination. characterizing the codes, rules and values that are shared. The free association word test and the similarity evocations analysis served to characterize the Social Representations about vaccination within Abric’s structural approach. The results showed ‘fear’ is what supports the centrality of the social representations of the social group researched, and is therefore the main element of resistance to immunization particularly among men. With regard to women, there is a recognition that vaccines are important because they protect children. As final considerations, we suggest that the prevention of this possible phobia should begin as soon as possible, and preferably during early childhood when the first needle experiences occur. In this regard, we think how much schools and kindergartens could be good allies in this confrontation together with an effective partnership with the health department. Moreover, it is important to emphasize the relevance of parental care, preferably by mental health professionals, so that the cycle of fear does not continue.
