Resumo: | This text presents a reflection on episodes of violence practiced by young girls within schools. The material for reflection is the result of empirical research developed during the completion of the stricto sensu postgraduate course at the master's and doctoral level in a public school and a private school, respectively, in the city of São Paulo. During the research, several qualitative and quantitative research techniques were carried out – only in the master's research. Although the realities between the two populations are quite different, social gender relations proved to be an excellent and efficient analysis tool to interpret these events because only class or socioeconomic level reading was not enough to develop the analysis. This, in turn, showed that the young women reacted in a manner consistent with their socializations, although they also contested these same socializations, which placed them only as victims and not as authors of physical violence. |

O material de reflexão é fruto das pesquisas empíricas desenvolvidas durante a realização do curso de pós-graduação stricto sensu no nível de mestrado e doutorado em uma escola pública e uma escola particular, respectivamente, da cidade de São Paulo. Durante a pesquisa foram realizadas diversas técnicas de pesquisa qualitativa e quantitativa – unicamente na pesquisa no mestrado. Embora as realidades entre as duas populações sejam bem distintas, as relações sociais de gênero demonstraram ser uma excelente e eficiente ferramenta de análise para interpretar esses eventos porque somente a leitura de classe ou de nível socioeconômico não se demonstraram suficientes para desenvolver a análise.
