Resumo: | The paper aims to identify the level of organizational commitment of administrative technician public servants who occupy leadership positions in infrastructure departments of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), in view of the theoretical perspectives of Meyer and Allen (1991). Data were collected through semistructured interviews with seven subjects and processed by content interpretation of statements collected in the interviews, seeking to select the excerpts that illustrated the evaluated dimensions of commitment. The results showed affective commitment as the main dimension in the occupational lives of the majority of interviewed servants, followed by normative commitment and lastly,instrumental. Personal satisfaction, dedication, the significance of work, motivation and participation in planning activities were identified as elements that express the affective dimension. Loyalty, gratitude and adherence to rules and values of the organization were reported as aspects of the normative dimension. Finally, stability, freedom and tranquility of working in the public sphere were mentioned as aspects associated with the instrumental dimension. Keywords: Organizational commitment. Job involvement. Public service.O artigo tem por objetivo identificar o grau de comprometimento organizacional de servidores técnicos administrativos que ocupam cargo de chefia em seções de infraestrutura da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), tendo em vista as perspectivas teóricas de Meyer e Allen (1991). Os dados foram coletados por meio de entrevista semiestruturadas com sete chefes de seção e tratados mediante a interpretação do conteúdo dos depoimentos colhidos nas entrevistas, buscando se selecionar trechos que pudessem ilustrar as dimensões de comprometimento avaliadas. Os resultados evidenciaram que a principal dimensão de comprometimento presente na vida ocupacional da maioria dos servidores entrevistados é a afetiva, seguida pela normativa e, por último, a instrumental. A satisfação pessoal, a dedicação, a significância do trabalho, a motivação e a participação no planejamento das atividades foram apontadas como elementos que exprimem a dimensão afetiva. Já a lealdade, a gratidão e a aderência às normas e aos valores da organização foram relatadas como aspectos pertinentes à dimensão normativa. Por fim, a estabilidade, a liberdade e a tranquilidade de trabalhar na esfera pública foram mencionadas como aspectos associados à dimensão instrumental.
