Resumo: | Leadership and motivation at work are issues that intertwine and become essential for influencing people to reach specific goals and objectives within organizations in order to achieve greater productivity and competitiveness. For some employees, a good salary is not enough to motivate them and meet their expectations, but a series of actions for the recovery of the human being and their self-fulfillment in the workplace. Leadership intertwines with motivation as it involves the achievement of goals with and through people. In view of this, this paper presents the following problem: what is the leadership style by contemporary manager and the relationship between the leadership and motivation of the subordinate? and aims to show the context that structure the relationship between leadership and motivation at work. This is a study with qualitative and quantitative, exploratory and transversal approach, whose universe of research are pharmaceutical representatives and district managers of pharmaceutical representatives teams, allocated in marketing and sales of the pharmaceutical industry which carries on business in Brazil. Justified for bringing the differential to search an important segment in the Brazilian economy and large investments in leadership and motivation politics. The main results of this study describe a situational leadership style and the relationship between behavior and attitudes of leadership and motivation of subordinates. But it seems some vested control methods aimed at driving the behavior of subordinates in search of higher productivity bring negative impact this motivational process. |

Para alguns funcionários, um bom salário não é suficiente para motivá-los e atender aos seus anseios, e sim uma série de ações voltadas para a valorização do ser humano e a sua autorrealização no ambiente de trabalho. A liderança se entrelaça com a motivação à medida que envolve a realização dos objetivos com e através das pessoas. Diante disto, este trabalho apresenta o seguinte problema: qual é o estilo de liderança exercido pelo gestor contemporâneo e a relação existente entre a liderança e a motivação do subordinado? e tem como objetivo evidenciar o contexto que estrutura a relação entre liderança e motivação no trabalho. Trata-se de um estudo com abordagem qualitativa e quantitativa, exploratória e transversal, cujo universo de pesquisa são os propagandistas farmacêuticos e gerentes distritais das equipes de propagandistas farmacêuticos, alocados na área de marketing e vendas de uma das indústrias farmacêuticas que exerce atividade no Brasil. Justifica-se por trazer o diferencial de pesquisar um segmento de destaque na economia brasileira e com grandes investimentos em políticas de liderança e motivação. Os principais resultados deste estudo descrevem um estilo de liderança situacional e uma relação existente entre comportamentos e atitudes do líder e a motivação dos liderados.
