Resumo: This article analyzes the image of tourism as a means of expression of contemporary cultural aesthetic that revolves around the subject of traveling. First, it presents a theoretical revision of the concept, its composition, and characteristics. Later it shows the differences between the advertised image and the one produced by the tourist, including the means used to record and share the experience. This brings understanding to how tourist practices linked to the production of images become a manifestation of the contemporary visual culture that focuses on globalization, hedonism, egocentrism and the access to new technologies. Understanding the aesthetic and symbolic value of the image as a result of a much larger social process.

Primeramente se presenta una revisión teórica del concepto, su composición y sus principales características. Posteriormente se realiza una distinción entre la imagen promovida y la que el propio turista produce, así como los medios que utiliza para registrar la experiencia y para compartirla.  Esto es de interés porque nos ayuda a entender cómo las prácticas turísticas vinculadas a la producción de imágenes, son una manifestación de la cultura visual contemporánea que atiende a la globalización, el hedonismo, el egocentrismo y el acceso a las nuevas tecnologías. Entendiendo que la estética y el valor simbólico de la imagen es resultado de un proceso social muchos más grande.Este artigo analisa a imagem do turismo como meio de expressão da estética cultural contemporânea que gira em torno do tema da viagem. Primeiramente, apresenta uma revisão teórica do conceito, sua composição e características. Posteriormente mostra as diferenças entre a imagem anunciada e a produzida pelo turista, incluindo os meios utilizados para registrar e compartilhar a experiência. Isso traz a compreensão de como as práticas turísticas ligadas à produção de imagens tornam-se uma manifestação da cultura visual contemporânea que tem como foco a globalização, o hedonismo, o egocentrismo e o acesso às novas tecnologias.
