Social Skills for Speaking in Public of College Students: Literature Review

Resumo: Introduction: The transition to university can be a challenge for students, as it requires them to have the skills to meet interpersonal demands. In this context, occasionally, there are events that require the behavior of public speaking, which hinders the performance of some students.Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the anxiety of university students in expressing the social skills for speaking in public.Material and Methods: The method used was the review of the national literature of articles, dissertations and theses published in the last ten years in the databases of Capes, Dedalus USP, BDTD, BVSPsi, Google Scholar, Lilacs, PubMed, Pepsic and Scielo, with the descriptors “social skills”, “public speaking” and “college students”. We found 32 (thirty two) references, and of these, 15 (fi fteen) materials were selected for the composition of this study.Results and Conclusion: It was found that the high level of anxiety in university students when speaking in public can present different causes and impair the quality of life of students, as well as indicate possible mental disorders. In addition, it was also observed the lack of research on other emotions related to the behavior of exposure and the need to expand studies on the theme for the other regions of the country.

Nesse contexto, ocasionalmente, há eventos que requerem o comportamento de falar em público, o que dificulta o desempenho de alguns discentes. Este estudo teve por objetivo averiguar a ansiedade dos universitários na expressão da habilidade social de falar em público. O método utilizado foi a revisão da literatura nacional de artigos, dissertações e teses publicadas nos últimos dez anos nas bases de dados da Capes, Dedalus USP, BDTD, BVSPsi, Google Acadêmico, Lilacs, PubMed, Pepsic e Scielo, com os descritores “habilidades sociais”, “falar em público” e “universitários”. Foram encontradas 32 (trinta e duas) referências, e, destas, 15 (quinze) materiais foram selecionados para a composição deste estudo. Constatou-se que o alto nível de ansiedade nos universitários ao falar em público pode apresentar diferentes causas e prejudicar a qualidade de vida dos alunos, além de indicar possíveis transtornos mentais.
