Anxiety and social skills indicators of college students during COVID-19 pandemic

Resumo: | Studies from different countries verified the relationship between deterioration of quality of mental health and academic engagement decrease of college students during pandemic period of COVID-19. This study aim to describe indicators of academic engagement, anxiety, academic anxiety, and social skills (SK) of college students during COVID-19 context. Participants were 88 college students of different semesters of a undergaduate course of Psychology from the interior of State of São Paulo. Data were collected in 2020 by an online questionnaire. Main results indicated: a) participants of the 7th semester achieved greater mean of academic engagement, academic anxiety and SK; and participants of the 5th semester achieved the lower mean oh the same indicators; b) statistics correlations between SK categories and academic engagement; SK categories and academic anxiety categories. Final considerations suggest the results corroborate the literature on damage to mental health in college students as a result of coping with the pandemic. |

Este estudio tiene como objetivo describir indicadores de participación en actividades académicas, ansiedad general, ansiedad por el rendimiento académico y habilidades sociales (HS) en universitarios en el contexto de COVID-19. 88 universitarios de diferentes semestres de un curso presencial de Psicología de una universidad del interior del Estado de São Paulo participaron en el estudio. La recolección de datos que se produjo a través de un cuestionario. Los resultados indicaron: a) los medios más altos en la actividad académica, ansiedad por el rendimiento académico y el HS fueron obtenidos por los participantes del séptimo período y los promedios más bajos por los participantes del quinto; b) correlaciones entre las categorías del HS y las categorías de actividades académicas; categorías HS y categorías de ansiedad por el rendimiento académico. Los resultados corroboran estudios sobre daños a la salud mental en universitarios como consecuencia del afrontamiento de la pandemia.Estudos de diferentes países verificaram relações entre a piora da qualidade da saúde mental e redução no engajamento acadêmico em universitários durante a pandemia da COVID-19. Este estudo tem por objetivo descrever indicadores de engajamento em atividades acadêmicas, ansiedade geral, ansiedade de desempenho acadêmico e habilidades sociais (HS) em estudantes universitários no contexto da COVID-19. Participaram do estudo 88 universitários de diferentes semestres de um curso presencial de Psicologia de uma universidade do interior do Estado de São Paulo. A coleta de dados ocorreu por meio de questionário online no ano de 2020. Os resultados indicaram que: a) as maiores médias de engajamento em atividade acadêmica, ansiedade de desempenho acadêmico e HS foram obtidas pelos participantes do sétimo período e as menores médias pelos participantes do quinto período; b) correlações positivas entre categorias de HS e categorias de atividades acadêmicas; categorias de HS e categorias de ansiedade de desempenho acadêmico.
