In the globalized world in which information can be critical in career and social relationships, the integration of the Internet and its information resources and communication are an essential component in the formation of professional and current settings of teaching and learning. Not coincidentally, the popularization of the Internet has raised new courses distance education and virtual learning platforms. Are these new learning environments that meet the information and communication technologies being mediate the teaching practice. In this study, we discuss the use of video in teaching and learning context of distance learning courses at the Center for Educational Technology at the State University of Maranhão - UemaNet. From the characterization of the shape of two videos, taken from the Moodle platform, and how the contents are covered by means of audiovisual language, we understand how the educational potential of this tool has been used.
