CONTINUING EDUCATION BY THE METHOD OF DISTANCE EDUCATION IN DENTISTRY

Resumo: Distance education , type of education carried through the intensive use of information and communication technologies , where teachers and students are physically separated in space and / or time , is increasingly being used in most all areas of knowledge. Continuing education is defined by educational activities that serve to maintain , develop or improve knowledge , skills , and professional performance and relationships that dentists who use to promote services to patients , the public or the profession . Through this article , we aim to emphasize the use of continuing dental education through the distance mode of education , given the importance and growth of this method of teaching , for being used globally and become a key tool for promoting knowledge to many individuals. We conclude that the presence education , blended or distance becomes a process of training , because , regardless of the method offered , we get the same results , ie , student learning . So even with the challenges , we believe in education as a new perspective to distance education for health . Although distance education has not yet become popular in the country for a cultural issue , because people are still accustomed to thinking in traditional teaching . Continuing education should be an ally to promote awareness of professional and assure the quality of customer service and should also be focused on institutional reality and the needs of staff .

A educação continuada é definida por atividades educacionais que servem para manter, desenvolver ou melhorar o conhecimento, habilidades, além de relacionamento e desempenho profissional que os cirurgiões-dentistas, utilizam para promover serviços a pacientes, ao público ou à profissão. Através deste artigo, temos por objetivo enfatizar o uso da educação continuada em odontologia através da modalidade de educação a distância, haja vista a importância e o crescimento deste método de ensino, por estar sendo utilizado globalmente e se tornado um instrumento fundamental de promoção de conhecimento para muitos indivíduos. Concluímos que, a educação presencial, semipresencial ou a distância se torna um processo de formação, pois, independentemente do método oferecido, devemos buscar os mesmos resultados, ou seja, o aprendizado do aluno. Assim, mesmo com os desafios, acreditamos na educação á distância como nova perspectiva de ensino para a área da saúde. Apesar da educação a distância ainda não ter se popularizado no país por uma questão cultural, pois as pessoas ainda estão acostumadas a pensar na forma tradicional de ensino.
