INTERACTION AND BEHAVIOR PROFILE OF STUDENTS IN DISTANCE-LEARNING DISCUSSION FORUMS: A PEDAGOGICAL PRACTICE ARTICULATED IN LIGHT OF THE HUMANIST THEORY OF CARL ROGERS

Resumo: This article investigates the interaction process of students in discussion forums in a remote teacher training course in biology, whose pedagogical practice is articulated in light of the humanist theory of Carl Rogers, and defines the profile assumed by the students in their independent learning process. It takes a mixed observational and descriptive approach, through a case study. A total of 2,534 postings in 18 discussion forums between January 2010 and December 2014 were analyzed. With the passage of semesters, the number of students with “debater” and “questioner” profiles increased and the number of “passive” students declined, indicating that the humanist theory stimulates more active participation of students in their self-learning in distance education courses. By collating the students’ profiles with their final grades in the disciplines, it was possible to verify that students with questioner and debater profiles did better than those who were less active or did not participate in discussion forums.

Trata-se de pesquisa com abordagem mista, do tipo observacional descritiva, cujo método foi o estudo de caso. Foram analisadas 2.534 postagens em 18 fóruns de discussão que ocorreram entre 01/2010 e 12/2014. Com o andamento dos semestres, o quantitativo de alunos com perfis “debatedor” e “questionador” aumentou e o de alunos “passivos”, diminuiu, indicando que a teoria humanista estimula a participação mais ativa do aluno no seu processo de ensino-aprendizagem em EaD.
