Resumo: This article aims to analyze the solid waste management in the municipality of health Bocaiúva - MG. The methodology consisted of literature review andfield work in the municipal hospital, clinics and laboratory facilities, dental, pharmaceutical, and semi-structured interviews with environmental engineerof the municipality. Waste management can be understood as an integrated set of operational actions and planning that take into account social and environmental criteria, with the basic function to manage the stages of generation, packaging, collection, treatment and final disposal of solid waste, especially waste health. In Bocaiuva city, the management of solid waste is made by the health department of the environment in partnership with SERQUIP LTDA. The results indicate a need for proper management of such wastes is essential that the competent bodies to create control mechanisms covering all stages of the management of this service, that is, from generation to final destination of solid waste health generated in the city.

A metodologia utilizada consistiu em revisão bibliográfica, e trabalho de campo no hospital municipal, postos de saúde e estabelecimentos laboratoriais, odontológicos e farmacêuticos, além de entrevista semi-estruturada com o engenheiro ambiental do município. O gerenciamento de resíduos pode ser compreendido como um conjunto integrado de ações operacionais e planejamento que levam em consideração critérios sócio-ambientais, tendo como função basilar gerir as fases de geração, acondicionamento, coleta, tratamento e disposição final dos resíduos sólidos, em especial os resíduos sólidos de saúde. Na cidade de Bocaiúva a gestão dos resíduos sólidos de saúde é feita pela secretaria de meio ambiente em parceria com a empresa SERQUIP LTDA.
