Resumo: | The intensive use of natural resources has resulted in many cases their exhaustion, such as loss of vegetation, which has caused a loss of biodiversity both fauna and flora. This degradation caused by the deployment of agribusiness and monoculture eucalyptus plantations, cattle and irrigation projects. A serious consequence of the inordinate use of soil and removal of environmental Permanent Preservation Areas, which is a vegetation of paramount importance to the quality and quantity of water in river. Considering the deficiency in the surveillance of these areas has made a study of the use and occupation of land in the river basin in which Catolé were used Geo that are fundamental tools in the monitoring and management of natural resources,especially the Remote Sensing - GIS - allowing analysis of information use and land cover and their influence on environmental preservation areas, more agile, quick and easy. |

Esta degradação e provocada pela implantação dos agronegócios como a monocultura do eucalipto, bovinocultura e os projetos de irrigação. Uma grave conseqüência desse uso desordenado do solo e a supressão das APPs, sendo esta uma vegetação de suma importância para a qualidade e quantidade de água no rio.
