Resumo: A castanha-do-Brasil por ser um produto do extrativismoda região Amazônia e devido a condições inadequadas demanejo o ambiente torna-se propício para a presença demicotoxinas como a aflatoxinas. As aflatoxinas possuem umelevado potencial toxigênico e tem sido relacionas a diversaspatologias humanas. Neste contexto, o estudo da presençade aflatoxinas nas castanhas-do-Brasil se torna imprescindívelcomo forma de informação e conscientizaçãodevido à gravidade da sua ingestão quando em níveis elevados.A presente revisão bibliográfica teve por finalidadeapresentar, verificar e discutir a presença das aflatoxinasna castanha-do-Brasil. Para esta revisão foram selecionadosos principais artigos do tema da base de dados do portalCAPES SCIELO Brasil – Scientific Eletronic Libraryonline e Science Direct. A partir destes conclui-se que é necessárioque tenha boas práticas em todas as etapas domanejo da castanha-do-Brasil a fim de minimizar os níveisde aflatoxinas presentes na castanha e se faz necessáriouma maior conscientização dos perigos que a aflatoxinapodem causar na saúde humana.
