Women’s soccer and futsal: stigmas and advances

Resumo: OBJECTIVE: To verify if there are still reports with prejudice against women’s field soccer and indoor soccer and there are still standards practiced by the media, as well as advances in the propaganda of women’s field soccer and indoor soccer and to identify what reasons that society offers to practice these modalities by womens.METHODS: The study is a literature review. The search for articles on the topic was carried out in the Cape’s Portal Periodicals database that were published between August 5th, in 2016 and August 5th, in 2021, and were selected articles that corresponded to the proposed theme and excluded all bibliographies, reviews, books, theses, dissertations, and studies that didn’t cover the chosen topic. RESULTS: Fifteen articles were selected. Of these, 6 were involved in soccer theme’s interviews; 3 with indoor soccer’s topic; 3 in contents’ analyses in a widely circulated website and 3 documentary analyses, which 1 is associated with interviews. These studies mostly showed reports by women and girls about the prejudices and patterns that limit their participation in field soccer and indoor soccer, which still exist. It was also identified literature that mentions the difficulty of women initiating this kind of sport. Finally, some articles that gives hope for change, which cite the increase in the dissemination of the media, as well as strategies for empowerment and bringing women closer to the practice.CONCLUSION: It was possible to conclude that prejudice against women’s field soccer and indoor soccer still persists, as well as the reports of opportunities and motivations to iniciate women’s practice are still rare. However, there was an increase in the dissemination of the modalities in the television media, which may improve these factors in the future. Additionally, incentive of public’s policies need to be further exploited.

Additionally, incentive of public’s policies need to be further exploited.OBJETIVO: Verificar se ainda há relatos de preconceito com o futebol e futsal de mulheres e padrões determinados pela mídia, bem como avanços na divulgação do futebol e futsal de mulheres e identificar quais motivações a sociedade oferece para a prática dessas modalidades pelas mulheres.MÉTODOS: O estudo trata-se de uma revisão sistemática. Foi realizada uma busca de artigos sobre o tema na base de dados Portal Periódicos da Capes publicados entre as datas 5 de agosto de 2016 e 5 de agosto de 2021, sendo selecionados os artigos que corresponderam com o tema proposto e excluídos todos os que eram revisões bibliográficas, resenhas, livros, teses, dissertações, e estudos que não abrangessem o tema escolhido.RESULTADOS: Foram selecionados 15 artigos. Desses, 6 envolveram entrevistas com a temática futebol; 3 com a temática futsal; 3 análises de conteúdo de site de grande circulação e 3 análises documentais, sendo 1 associado à entrevistas. Esses estudos apresentaram em sua maioria relatos de mulheres e meninas sobre os preconceitos e padrões impostos que limitam a participação delas no futebol e futsal, que ainda vigoram. Também foi identificada literatura que menciona a dificuldade quanto a iniciação das mulheres no esporte. Por fim, alguns artigos que de certa forma dão esperanças de mudanças, que citam o aumento da divulgação da modalidade na mídia, bem como estratégias para o empoderamento e aproximação das mulheres com a prática.CONCLUSÃO: Foi possível concluir que o preconceito contra o futebol e futsal de mulheres ainda persiste, bem como que os relatos de oportunidades e motivações para iniciação à prática por mulheres ainda são raros. Entretanto, houve aumento da divulgação das modalidades nas mídias televisivas aumentou, o que pode melhorar esses fatores num futuro breve.
