Representations of students entrants to ESEF/UFRGS about the graduation in Physical Education

Resumo: This study aimed to identify the representations of students entering the ESEF/UFRGS on the gradua­tion in Physical Education (PE), and understand the construction of these representations. The research was con­ducted at the School of Physical Education at UFRGS in the first semesters of implementing a new curriculum for the course of PE. This is a qualitative study. Data collection was done through semi-structured interviews with seven students- selected from the typological representativeness criteria using the following criteria: be from different school systems (public and private); some enrolled in the morning shift and the other in the afternoon; some male and the other female; different chronological ages and different expectations of professional perfor­mance - the course of PE (ESEF/UFRGS), entrants in the first half of 2012. The analysis was done by identifying units of meaning and the construction of categories of analysis. The study allowed understand that students have different representations of the graduation in PE, likely related to their previous experience to enroll in the course and its prospects for action. There are some indications that keeps its representations attached to these aspects while others start to the disciplines of the first half was allowed to rebuild some representations.

There are some indications that keeps its representations attached to these aspects while others start to the disciplines of the first half was allowed to rebuild some representations.  O presente estudo tem como objetivos identificar e compreender as representações sobre a formação inicial em Educação Física de estudantes ingressantes na Escola de Educação Física (ESEF) da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). A pesquisa foi realizada na Escola de Educação Física da UFRGS nos primeiros semestres de implantação de um novo currículo para o curso de EF. Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo descritivo. A coleta das informações foi feita através de entrevistas semiestruturadas realizadas com sete estu­dantes - selecionados a partir da representatividade tipológica através dos seguintes critérios: serem oriundos de diferentes redes de ensino (públicas e privadas); alguns matriculados no turno da manhã e outros no turno da tarde; alguns do sexo masculino e outros do sexo feminino; diferentes idades cronológicas e diferentes expec­tativas de atuação profissional - do curso de EF da ESEF/UFRGS, ingressantes no primeiro semestre de 2012. A análise dos dados deu-se por meio da identificação de unidades de significado e da construção de categorias de análise. O estudo permitiu compreender que os estudantes entrevistados apresentam diferentes representações sobre a formação inicial em EF, que possivelmente estão relacionadas às suas experiências anteriores ao ingresso no curso e as suas perspectivas de atuação.
