Resumo: | BACKGROUND: The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted various spheres of social behavior. With regard to the practice of physical activity (PA) it was not different.OBJECTIVE: The study aimed to investigate the motivational factors for the practice of PA during the second lockdown in the state of Ceará, northeastern Brazil.METHODS: Participated in the study 1,036 (55.6% women) living in the state of Ceará, northeastern Brazil. For data collection, a questionnaire was used including characterization questions and questions related to PA during and after the lockdown and, in the case of confirmation of PA practice, they were asked about the motivations for remaining active during the 2nd lockdown in the state from Ceará. The instrument, made by Google Forms. Descriptive statistics and logistic regression were used for data analysis.RESULTS: It was verified that there was a significant increase (p<0.05) of people who exercised without the use of overload (13.6%) and running (10.0%) during the 2nd confinement. Health (66.7%), physical fitness (57.5%) and decreased anxiety (44.0%) were the main motivational factors for practicing PA during the 2nd lockdown.CONCLUSION: The results of the investigation showed that health, physical conditioning and the search for a decrease in anxiety were the main motivational factors for the practice of PA during the 2nd lockdown in the state of Ceará. In addition, associated factors, such as having an income of one to four minimum wages and having practiced PA before the 2nd blockade, indicated a greater propensity to remain active during the 2nd blockade. |
