Resumo: The process of reading in one’s L1 or L2 involves a great deal of factors, ranging from the interation between the reader and the text up to cognitive processing in several levels. This article discusses two gaps in the study of reading processing in a connectionist framework: 1) the one related to bottom-up strategies in L1 and L2 reading and 2) the one concerning knowledge transfer in L1-L2 reading processing.
