This article summarizes the studies about reading comprehension, emphasizing the fact that even today the scientific research ignores the way in what the brain processes reading comprehension, in spite of the fact that enormous efforts were done in neurophsichology, psycholinguistics, neuroscience and other areas involved with the subject. In addition it points out the test of reading comprehension proposed by Alliende, Condemarin and Milicic (1982) as one of the existing possibilities to test comprehension in our context. It’s important also remember the lack of knowledge about the specific comprehension task , to promote a better understanding of the mental process according to how the comprehension process is produced in the brain, reinforcing Dascal (2005) proposals of future studies.
