Fake news that kills: reality reproduced in the hate network

Resumo: In this article, we initially focus on the definitions and characteristics of the concepts of fake news, political polarization, filter bubbles and post-truth, within the scope of social networks. These phenomena are contextualized based on their interactions and taking into account the different possibilities of repercussions in offline reality, which are generally offensive and harmful to victims. To verify why fake news is dangerous, a bibliographical research was carried out, illustrated, then, by the analysis of the movie The hater (Jan Komasa, 2022). The analysis addresses these concepts to understand this harmful process that is based on the spread of misinformation on social networks and on the relationship between online and offline life.

Con el fin de aclarar el enfoque teórico y establecer una conexión con la realidad cotidiana, se realizará una lectura de la película The hater, analizando en qué puntos los hechos retratados cinematográficamente se acercan a la vida real en sociedad, en lo que respecta a la manipulación de la opinión pública a través de los medios de comunicación sociales.Neste artigo inicialmente focalizamos as características dos conceitos fake news, polarização política, bolhas de filtro e pós-verdade, no âmbito das redes sociais. Esses fenômenos são contextualizados a partir de suas interações e levando em conta as diferentes possibilidades de repercussão no mundo off-line, que são, geralmente, ofensivas e danosas para as vítimas. Para verificar por que as fake news são perigosas foi realizada uma pesquisa bibliográfica, ilustrada, em seguida, pela leitura do filme Rede de ódio (Jan Komasa, 2022).
