FINANCIAL EDUCATION PROFILE OF TEACHERS OF BRAZILIAN PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES

Resumo: The objective of this research was to identify the levels of financial education perceived and practiced by undergraduation and graduation professors from Brazilian public higher education institutions (HEI). The survey, carried out through an online questionnaire, resulted in 549 valid responses, analyzed using linear regression. The study showed that undergraduate and graduate professors over-evaluated their knowledge of financial education. Gender, age, having dependents and income affect the perceived and actual level of financial education. Graduation in the business area has a positive influence on the financial education that teachers have.

La encuesta, realizada a través de un cuestionario en línea, arrojó 549 respuestas válidas, analizadas mediante regresión lineal. El estudio mostró que los profesores sobrestiman su conocimiento en educación financiera. El género, la edad, tener dependientes e ingresos afectan el nivel percibido y real de educación financiera. La graduación en el área empresarial influye positivamente en la educación financiera que tienen los docentes.O estudo propõe identificar se fatores demográficos e socioeconômicos afetam a percepção e o nível real de educação financeira dos docentes de graduação e pós-graduação de instituições de ensino superior (IES) públicas brasileiras. O levantamento, realizado por meio de um questionário online, resultou em 549 respostas válidas, analisadas por meio de regressão linear. O estudo evidenciou que os docentes superavaliaram o conhecimento que possuem sobre educação financeira. Gênero, idade, possuir dependentes e renda, afetam o nível de educação financeira percebido e real.
