Resumo: | The present article tries to establish a tentative inventory of the genres that circulate in Brazilian newspapers. Our interest was to determine how the notion of genre has been treated in the theoretical and practical literature of the field of communication and, from there, to map the genres cited as representative of this social environment. The literature in the area indicates that the notion of genre is far from clear and that there is great divergence among the terms used, which, however, constitutes in itself rich research material. |

Se buscó, de esta manera determinar la forma como la nación de género es tratada, en la literatura teórica y práctica de la área de comunicación y, desde ahí, apuntar los géneros que son citados como representativos de ese medio social. Se percibe, en esta literatura, que la noción de género es poco precisa y que hay divergencia en los rótulos citados, lo que, sin embargo también se enseña como rico material de investigación.Cet article cherche à établir un inventaire initial à propos des genres qui circulent dans les journaux brésiliens. On s’est efforcé, ainsi, à déterminer la forme selon laquelle la notion de genre est en train d’être traitée dans la littérature théorique et pratique dans le domaine de la communication, et, à partir de là, faire sortir les genres cités comme représentatifs de ce milieu social. On aperçoit, dans cette littérarure, que la notion de genre est peu précise et qu’il y a une grande divergence dans les étiquettes citées, ce que, cependant, se montre comme un matériel très riche de recherche.O presente artigo procura estabelecer um inventário inicial dos gêneros que circulam nos jornais brasileiros. Buscou-se, deste modo, determinar a forma como a noção de gênero tem sido tratada na literatura teórica e prática da área de comunicação e, a partir daí, levantar os gêneros que são citados como representativos desse meio social.
