Research on the web and text production: reflexions on the teaching of argumentative types of text at school

Resumo: The present paper discusses the use of the Internet within the context of classroom practices. Initially, the text highlights the existing gap between school literacy practices and community practices. ICT presence in daily life has made the distance between school and community even more evident. Following this discussion, the article presents the results of two empirical investigations. The first one aimed to understand how high school learners are exploring ICT in formal and non-formal activities. The second one aimed to understand how the Internet may benefit the teaching of writing argumentative types of text. Results show that on-line research may offer promising ways to improve classroom results. Teachers’ intervention may also be necessary to guide learners on how to make more profitable uses of ICT resources.

Inicialmente, el texto resalta la distancia existente entre las prácticas letradas escolares y los usos cotidianos de la escritura, la cual fue agravada por la presencia de las TICs en un conjunto de prácticas sociales. A seguir, el texto relata los resultados de dos investigaciones empíricas. La primera busca investigar como alumnos de una escuela particular de enseñanza secundaria están incorporando la Internet en su cotidiano dentro y fuera de la escuela. El segundo estudio, centrado en una tarea de producción de un texto disertativo, buscó entender como la pesquisa on-line puede favorecer la construcción de ese tipo específico de género textual. Los resultados indican que el uso de la Internet en la sala de clase puede ser productivo y resalta la importancia de la orientación del profesor.Cet essai discute l’emploi de l’Internet dans les pratiques d’enseignement de langue maternelle. Tout d’abord, le texte rehausse la distance existante entre les pratiques lettrées écolières et les usages du quotidien de l’écrit, lequel fut aggravé par la présence des TICs dans un ensemble de pratiques sociales. Ensuite, le texte rapporte les résultats de deux recherches empiriques. La première cheche à examiner comment des élèves d’une école privée de l’enseignement secondaire sont en train d’incorporer l’Internet dans leur quotidien dedans et dehors de l’école. La deuxième étude, centrée dans une tâche de production d’un texte dissertatif, a cherché à comprendre comment la recherche on-line peut favoriser la construction de ce type spécifique de genre textuel. Les résultats indiquent que l’usage de l’Internet en salle de classe peut être satisfaisant et rehausse l’importance de l’orientation du professeur.Este ensaio discute o uso da Internet nas práticas de ensino de língua materna. Inicialmente, o texto ressalta a distância existente entre as práticas letradas escolares e os usos cotidianos da escrita, a qual foi agravada pela presença das TICs em um conjunto de práticas sociais. A seguir, o texto relata os resultados de duas investigações empíricas. A primeira busca investigar como alunos de uma escola particular do ensino médio estão incorporando a Internet em seu cotidiano dentro e fora da escola. O segundo estudo, centrado em uma tarefa de produção de um texto dissertativo, buscou entender como a pesquisa on-line pode favorecer a construção desse tipo específico de gênero textual.
