Resumo: This paper makes explicit the notion of discursive competence and its implications in the teaching of first languages. For such, an effort was made to update the concept of competence, based on the debate about that concept by authors in the recent history of linguistics: from Saussure, Chomsky and Hymes up to Bronckart; authors of other fields were considered too, like the sociologist Perrenoud. An effort was also made to draw the notion of discursive competence closer to the work in textual genres.

Así, se ha pretendido actualizar el concepto de competencia a base de la discusión de dicho concepto por autores de la historia reciente de la lingüística: desde Saussure, Chomsky e Hymes hasta Bronckart; además de los aportes de autores de otras áreas, como es el caso del sociólogo Perrenoud. Asimismo, se buscará el acercamiento de la noción de competencia discursiva al trabajo con géneros textuales.Cet article a l’intention d’énoncer formellement la notion de compétence discursive et son implication dans l’enseignement de langue maternelle. Ayant cet objectif, on a cherché à rendre actuel le concept de compétence, à partir de la discussion de ce concept par des auteurs de l’histoire récente de la linguistique, dès Saussuree, Chomsky et Hymes jusqu’à Bronckart; de plus, on va vers des auteurs d’autres domaines, comme celui du sociologue Perrenoud. On essayera aussi d’approcher la notion de compétence discursive au travail fait avec des genres textuels.Esse artigo pretende explicitar a noção de competência discursiva e sua implicação no ensino de língua materna. Para tanto se buscou atualizar o conceito de competência, a partir da discussão desse conceito por autores da história recente da lingüística: desde Saussure, Chomsky e Hymes até Bronckart; além de autores de outras áreas como é o caso do sociólogo Perrenoud.
