NOTES FOR WORKING CINEMA, EDUCATION AND AFRICANITIES: EPISTEMOLOGY OF AFROCENTRICITY AND PEDAGOGY OF THE OPPRESSED

Resumo: This essay proposes to think about the theme of Africanities in education from the point of view of cinema based on Law 10.639/2003, which made teaching Afro-Brazilian history and culture mandatory in basic education. Thus, it aims to think about this didacticization from the “Epistemology of Afrocentricity” by Molefi Kete Asante and the “Pedagogy of the Oppressed” by Paulo Freire. The writing proposes a reflective and dialogic way for those who work in the formative context, using cinema as a pedagogical and cultural device. It concludes about the possibilities of cinema, as a media-educational resource, to raise questions related to Black cinema (agency, place and time – elements of the Epistemology of Afrocentricity) as an opportunity for thematization and interrogation of issues that problematize oppressive aspects of society (especially in relation to Black people, their exploitation, oppression, invisibility and dehumanization).

De esta forma, se pretende pensar esta didactización desde la “Epistemología del Afrocentrismo” de Molefi Kete Asante y desde la “Pedagogía del Oprimido” de Paulo Freire. El escrito propone un camino reflexivo y dialógico para quienes trabajan en el contexto formativo, utilizando el cine como dispositivo pedagógico y cultural. Se concluye sobre las posibilidades del cine, como recurso mediático-educativo, para plantear cuestiones relacionadas con el cine negro (agencia, lugar y tiempo – elementos de la Epistemología del Afrocentrismo) como oportunidad de tematización e interrogación de cuestiones que problematizan aspectos opresores de la sociedad (principalmente en relación con los negros, su explotación, opresión, invisibilidad y deshumanización).O presente ensaio propõe pensar a temática das africanidades na educação a partir do cinema pautado na Lei n.º 10.639/2003, que tornou obrigatório na educação básica o ensino da história e cultura afro-brasileira. Deste modo, tem como objetivo pensar esta didatização a partir da “Epistemologia da Afrocentricidade” de Molefi Kete Asante e da “Pedagogia do Oprimido” de Paulo Freire. O escrito propõe uma via reflexiva e dialógica para aqueles que atuam no contexto formativo, utilizando o cinema como dispositivo pedagógico e cultural.
