Resumo: Health and safety are essential elements when the purpose is to maintain a healthy and productive work environment. These issues are directly linked to the utilization of the human element as essential to the success of any organization. Health professionals, inserted in the activity of providing health services, perform activities that require great physical proximity to the patient by the characteristic of nursing care, and for the use and handling of materials and equipment. Nursing care favors, so the occurrence of accidents at work and in a marked way, those accidents caused by the exposure to materials. Given the facts, it is quite relevant that this work is to verify the work accidents involving all the employees of the Sao Rafael Hospital in Imperatriz-MA from 2013 to 2014.
