Financial education of families of high school students in the Municipality of Herval d’ Oeste

Resumo: The present study evaluated the level of knowledge of financial management and consequently the financial education among the families of high school students in the city of Herval do Oeste /SC. The study was an exploratory, qualitative research with resources of the quantitative approaches, with a view to measuring the relevance of aspects related to the knowledge of finance topics. Data were collected through a questionnaire applied to families of high school students, and were tabulated and ordered in tables and tables to enable analysis, based on theoretical and documentary basis. Data analysis techniques were used for qualitative data and descriptive statistics techniques for quantitative data. The results show that a significant number of respondents report not having control of their spending, that is, does not plan. This data associated to the profile of the public surveyed causes concern since the respondents' income is classified in a vulnerable social profile, subject to financial problems.

O estudo foi uma pesquisa exploratória, qualitativa com recursos das abordagens quantitativas, com vistas a mensurar a relevância de aspectos relacionados aos conhecimentos de temas de finanças. Os dados foram coletados por meio de questionário aplicado às famílias de alunos do Ensino Médio e foram tabulados e ordenados em quadros e tabelas para possibilitar a análise, com base na fundamentação teórica e documental. Para a análise dos dados foram utilizadas as técnicas de análise de conteúdo para os dados qualitativos e técnicas de estatística descritiva para os dados quantitativos. Os resultados evidenciam que uma parcela importante dos entrevistados relata não possuir controle dos seus gastos, isto é, não faz planejamento.
