Resumo: Identity can be understood as something related to the social and professional scopes and is vinculated to the material and social conditions, with contradictions within that need to be negociated. As time goes by, identity is constructed and transformed as a product of reflections about emoticons, stories, speeches and acts experienced by the individuals through their lives. The teaching identity is constructed based on human and professional dimentions that relates to each other, representing the way teachers perceive themselves and how they want to be seen. The existance of its own teaching identity is of great importance to the social responsibility function of the teacher, because through that emerges the commitment and the autonomy of the exercise of the profession. The biologist is a professional with a broad working area, which relates to multiple ocupations, resulting in a complex professional identity and hard to be defined in a unique way. In that perspective, it is possible to observe that the profession of a biologist has a complex and heterogenic identity in the origin of its regulamentation, making visible the lack of a identity for this professional, bein licensed or a bachelor. Besides the identity crisis being a characterisct of the biologist as a bachelor and licensed, it is possible to observe a bigger problem related to the teaching biologist, as during its formation the pedagogical routine is forgotten and has a bigger focus on experimentation. For many students of Biological Sciences, teaching is seen as a short term job, until they find a job more suitable for their formations as a biologist, as such, it is notable that their option for teaching does not reflect their will. With the goal of pondering and debating about the professional identity of the biologist as a teacher, this project consists of a bibliographical research that analyses and discusses the identity of the biologist as a licensed professional. To do this, the bibliographical research was executed in the SciELO – Scientific Eletronic Library Online (https://scielosp.org/) and the Biblioteca Digital Brasileira de Teses e Dissertações – BDTD (https://bdtd.ibict.br/vufind/) databases, using the following keywords: Bachelor, Licencing, Teaching Identity, Teacher Formation, Biology and Sciences Teaching. The projects that are part of this literature revision project show that the licenced biologist’s identity formation is a complex process that is submitted to varied circunstances, being personal or related to its own formation. Besides the teaching identity being a recurring process through the whole professional life, it’s in the initial formation that the idea of the “teacher being” and the teaching ethos are first found, in a conextualized and systematized way.
