Resumo: Postural control has been understood as resulting from a complex relationship between sensory information and motor action. In difficult postural tasks, it has been suggested that this relationship between sensory and motor action information needs to be more precise the question arises whether in these cases the attentional demand would be higher. The objective of the study is to examine the effects of performing a dual task in the relationship between sensory information and body sway during maintenance of upright posture with different demands of difficulties for young adults. The participants were 30 young adults, aged 18 to 25 years of both sexes, who kept standing position inside a room, looking at a target positioned on the front wall of the same. Participants were divided into an easy task group (GTF), which maintained the position with feet parallel and a difficult task group (GTD), which maintained the same position, but on a wooden base with a width of 8 cm. In a total of nine trials were conducted, the first with the stationary area. In the other trials, the room was moved an oscillatory manner, forward and back. In the first four attempts the room was moved and participants were not informed about the movement of the same and two of those attempts the participants performed countdown with an regression interval of 3 values (100, 97, ...), dual task. In the last four attempts the participants were informed about the movement of the room, also in two of these attempts, they had to make the count. To check the effects of visual manipulation those variables were used: mean sway amplitude, coherence, gain, phase, SFSA, speed variability and variability position. The results indicated that visual manipulation induced body sway in all participants. Although the provision of information on the oscillatory motion of the moving room weakened the relationship between sensory information and motor action, however only for easier postural...
