When analyzing gingival tissues, consideration must be given to their health status, marginal contours, presence or absence of interproximal papillae and position of the marginal zenith. Surgical correction is required in most cases of irregular gingival contours. The purpose of this clinical case report is to describe the surgical therapy used to resolve an esthetic problem in the maxillary anterior region. A 21 year old female patient presented to a private practice complaining of being embarrassed to smile due to gingival enlargement in the anterior maxilla. The gingival enlargemnt occurred following trauma to the area during a motorcycle accident approximately one year earlier. Following clinical and radiographic examination, periodontal plastic surgery was performed to correct the gingival contours which improved the esthetics and facilitated oral hygiene. The surgical procedures utilized included gingivoplasty, osteoplasty, and a midline labial frenectomy. The patient's satisfaction with the clinical outcome confirmed the success of the procedure. It can be concluded that esthetic problems in the maxillary anterior region can have a significant negative impact on the patient's self-esteem. However, they can often be improved, or even corrected, through periodontal plastic surgery, providing benefits to both the health and psychological well-being of the patient
