Resumo: The following study intends to demonstrate, through the research of chosen bibliography and stories from theater workshops, how the Theater of the Oppressed, as systematized by Augusto Boal, constitutes itself as a pedagogical instrument. Through the whole set of its techniques and artistical philosophy, which shows an intimacy with a liberating pedagogical pratice, it's made an questioning of the role of art as a force of change of the reality, as an source of empowerment of the social actors that claims it
