The aim of the SubProject PIBID Literacy Pedagogy at the UNESP Faculty of Philosophy and Sciences, in Marilia, São Paulo, is to promote collaboration in the work setting between licentiate students/scholarship holders, and municipal teachers for the production and use of Assistive Technology (AT). In addition, it promotes formation and preparation for the teaching profession. AT devices are intended to meet the educational needs of disabled students enrolled in the early years of elementary schooling, and attending specialized resource classrooms. The inclusion of deaf children requires careful observation and proper planning of strategies, since language involves a complex sophisticated process, as it is related to the drawing up and symbolization of human thought, which allows people to communicate with others. This report presents some data from observation and suggestions for tailored teaching resources that have been built up from the indications and guidelines of a scholarship holder in the PIBID Subproject. It stresses that collaborative partnership between classroom members, students, teacher and possible classroom helpers should also be encouraged. The building of the resources indicated was based on a proposal for collaboration, exchange and academic formation, since it represented a search for knowledge and space for discussing how to improve pedagogical practice in order to provide quality schooling for all.
