Resumo: | Sexist attitudes are an important construct to understand the interpersonal relation established on a daily basis. The lack of information related to this construct has motivated the current research, which aimed at adapting the Ambivalence toward Men Inventory to the Brazilian context and, also, at verifying gender differences in sexist attitudes toward men. The sample was formed by 205 university students, mostly females (51%), with a mean age of 20.8 years old (DP = 3.62). They answered the Ambivalence toward Men Inventory (AMI) and socio-demographic questions. The results confirmed the bi-factorial structure, represented by the hostile (Alpha = .80) and benevolent (Alpha = .69) factors. Differences in the hostile and benevolent sexism were found according to the gender of the participant, an important variable to the analysis of the results from both factors. |

Editora Mackenzie2004-07-01info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttp://editorarevistas.mackenzie.br/index.php/ptp/article/view/1164Journal Psychology: Theory and Practice ; Vol. 6 No. 2 (2004); 47-61Revista Psicologia: Teoría y Práctica; Vol. 6 Núm. 2 (2004); 47-61Revista Psicologia: Teoria e Prática; v. 6 n. 2 (2004); 47-611980-69061516-3687reponame:Psicologia (Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie.
