Aids’s Images and Meanings Among Users of the Health Basic Net Services of the Rio de Janeiro County

Resumo: The present work aimed at identifying and describing the images and the meanings present in the Aids ́s social representations among women attended in the health basic net. It is a qualitative study based on the social representations theory. There participated of the study 46 women attended in the services of attendance to the woman in eight health municipal centers. The data were collected with semi-structured interview and treated by the Alceste program. The result evidenced that the Aids is a contagious disease that means death being objectified as ugly, bad and dangerous, arising sentiments of suffering and fear. It is considered a pandemia that is disseminated by the irresponsibility of the “others”. The prevention is the essential factor for the syndrom control. By its historical and social construction, propiciates the development of discrimination and preconcepts attitudes. The contents of this social presentation reveal aspects that are constituted in a tool to guide the assistance and educative practices.

Es un estudio cualitativo pautado en la teoría de las representaciones sociales. Participaron del estudio 46 mujeres asistidas en los servicios de asistencia a la mujer en ocho centros municipales de salud. Los datos fueron colectados con entrevista heme estructurada y tratados por el Alceste. El resultado evidenció que la Sida es una dolencia contagiosa que significa muerte siendo objetivada como fea, ruin y peligrosa, despertando sentimientos de sufrimiento y medo. Es considerada una pandemia que se disemina por la irresponsabilidad de los “otros”. La prevención es el factor esencial para el control del síndrome. Por su construcción histórica y social propicia el desarrollo de actitudes de discriminación y preconcepto. Los contenidos de esta representación social revelan aspectos que se constituyen en un instrumento para dirigir las prácticas asistenciales y educativas.O presente trabalho teve como objetivo identificar e descrever as imagens e os significados presentes na representação social da Aids entre mulheres assistidas na rede básica de saúde. Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo pautado na teoria das representações sociais. Participaram dele 46 mulheres assistidas nos serviços de atendimento à mulher em oito centros municipais de saúde. Os dados foram coletados com entrevista semiestruturada e tratados pelo programa Alceste. O resultado evidenciou que a Aids é uma doença contagiosa que significa morte e que, por isso, é vista como feia, ruim e perigosa, despertando sentimentos de sofrimento e medo. É considerada uma pandemia que se dissemina pela irresponsabilidade dos "outros". A prevenção é o fator essencial para o controle da síndrome. Por sua construção histórica e social, propicia o desenvolvimento de atitudes de discriminação e preconceito.
