The presence of women in science is uncommon and, when it does happen, is surrounded by prejudices and inequality. Even the discussion about what is science is not a very simple one, demanding a serious consideration of the matter, studies and reflexion as to the concept not be misunderstood. To explore the issues, the publishing market has children’s books addressing with revolutionary women, including in the fields of science. The books have an intention to show to the children the universe of science. One of the books is the research object of the present work: "The Scientists: 50 Women Who Changed the World by Rachel Ignotofsky translated by Sônia Augusto, released in 2017. Thus, the present research has chosen to analyse this book as to understand how it exposes the gender in the science fields and if it can attract girls to be scientists. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the syncretism in the book, recognizing if it can encourage girls to pursued careers in science, analyzing the elements that make up the syncretic text, interpreting its content. An analyses was made of five scientists portrayed in the book: Jane Goodall (primatologist), Rachel Carson (marine biologist), Valentina Tereshkova (engineer), Mae Jemison (astronaut) and Alice Ball (chemistry). The analyses have shown that the book has the potential to attract young girls to the careers of science, but as it also raises little plausible speeches about how to succeed in these areas, what can be a problem for older readers. The book also forms some stereotypes about the concept of sciences, and it is important to discuss them so that readers can fully comprehend the text.
