Resumo: The present work is the result of a study based on the analysis of historical and cultural conditions in which the object of research, the Olympic mascots of the Summer Games, portrays the details of each character representing every Olympic edition: its creation and configuration of shapes, colors, textures and the value of communication, emotional and cultural, and everything that is involved in choosing the mascot, trying to demonstrate its multi-dimensional characteristics and its interdisciplinary nature. The work of contemporary authors and artists from different fields has been studied for the composition of the conceptual framework as a basis for analysis. The methodology utilized the specialized literature presented during this work to develop the steps of identification of the key elements of the character and this contextual analysis. The consolidated results of the research allowed drawing a profile of each mascot suggesting that different forms and levels of interactions are found in the link between culture and sports. Based on the information presented, the meaning of mascot undergoes significant changes over the years, both in the cities where the Games are held as well as with the interaction from viewers around the world. However, the mascots do not lose their main trait, which is to be the ambassadors of the Games, cheering athletes, the public, and everyone involved in the Olympics. Finally, similarities are established between the image of the Olympic mascot and the Faun myth present in Greek mythology, testifying to interdisciplinary contribution between culture and sports.
