Resumo: Statistics is an area of knowledge of great relevance to society, as it provides the reading of various data and research that contributes to the formation of citizens, enabling a critical reading of the world. In basic education, some concepts related to statistics are approached through the discipline of mathematics, among them measures of central tendency and dispersion. In this research, we analyzed how this content appears in textbooks approved by the National Plan for Textbooks for high school and in some documents that govern basic education in the country. The research had as theoretical support the theory of didactic transposition and the theory of conceptual fields. Among the developed results we have a section on the scientific knowledge of the measures of central tendency and dispersion, the analysis of the didactic transposition of the selected programs and books. The results indicate restrictions of knowledge in the programs and books analyzed, which may be indications that the problems in teaching and learning this knowledge are partly linked to the way it is presented in basic education books and programs.

Na educação básica, alguns conceitos ligados a estatística são abordados através da disciplina de matemática, dentre eles as medidas de tendência central e de dispersão. Nesta pesquisa, analisamos como esse conteúdo se apresenta em livros didáticos aprovados pelo Plano Nacional do Livro Didático para o ensino médio e em alguns documentos que regem a educação básica no país. A pesquisa teve como aporte teórico a teoria da transposição didática. Entre os resultados desenvolvidos temos uma seção sobre o saber científico das medidas de tendência central e de dispersão, a análise da transposição didática das orientações curriculares e dos livros selecionadas.
