Resumo: The evaluation of the sanitary quality of seeds is of fundamental importance to the establishment of the peanut crop, with the use of natural products a viable alternative for the control of diseases. The experiments were performed in the laboratories of the Seed and Plant Pathology and Microbiology at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco / Academic Unit of Garanhuns (UFRPE / UAG) in order to assess the physiological and health potential of peanut seeds cv. BR1 treated with powder and cinnamon extracts. In both experiments the completely randomized design with four replications of 50 seeds was used. In the first experiment, the seeds were treated with different doses of powdered cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum): 0 (control), 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 g in the ratio of 2g powder to 81.2 g of seeds and then submitted to the following tests: germination (calculated the percentage of normal and abnormal seedlings), index of germination speed, length and dry weight of seedlings and seed health testing. In the second experiment, the treatments consisted of different concentrations of aqueous extract of cinnamon bark: 0 (control), 5, 10, 15 and 20%, and the same variables were evaluated in the first experiment. In both experiments was assessed the percentage and type of fungus present in the seeds and was detected fungi of the genus Aspergillus niger, Penicillium spp. and Rhizophus spp., having greater control in treatments which used the highest dose of cinnamon powder and concentration of the extract of cinnamon bark. The use of powder and cinnamon extracts were effective against molds and did not affect the seed quality of peanuts.

Os experimentos foram realizados nos Laboratórios de Análise de Sementes e Fitopatologia e Microbiologia na Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco/Unidade Acadêmica de Garanhuns (UFRPE/UAG) com o objetivo de avaliar o potencial fisiológico e sanitário de sementes de amendoim cv. BR1 tratadas com pó e extratos de canela. Nos dois experimentos foi utilizado o delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado, com quatro repetições de 50 sementes. No primeiro experimento as sementes foram tratadas com diferentes doses de pó de canela (Cinnamomum zeylanicum): 0 (testemunha), 2, 4, 6, 8 e 10g, na proporção de 2g de pó para 81,2g de sementes e em seguida submetidas aos seguintes testes: germinação (calculou-se a porcentagem de plântulas normais e anormais), índice de velocidade de germinação, comprimento e massa seca de plântulas e teste de sanidade. No segundo experimento os tratamentos consistiram em diferentes concentrações de extrato aquoso de casca de canela: 0 (testemunha), 5, 10, 15 e 20%, e foram avaliadas as mesmas variáveis do primeiro experimento. Nos dois experimentos foi avaliado a porcentagem e o tipo de fungo presente nas sementes e detectou-se os fungos do gênero Aspergillus niger, Penicillium spp. e Rhizophus spp., havendo maior controle nos tratamentos em que se utilizou a maior dose do pó de canela e concentração do extrato de casca de canela.
