This article stems from a master's research, which sought to analyze the progression in the development of visual literacy from the perspective of an Education for the look, in the possibility of the multimodal digital space of texts through activities with photographs captured by children at school. In order to analyze and reflect on the imagery dimension with children, this research was defined from a qualitative methodological approach based on a case study and, for data collection, observation, focus group and questionnaire were adopted. The theoretical support was based on authors such as Harari (2016), Kenski (2012), Lévy (2010, 2011), Ribeiro (2012), Rojo and Moura (2012), Coscarelli (2016), Kress (1996-2010) and Van Leeuwen (2003). Among other dimensions, the data showed that children expanded multimodal reading and writing skills, developing visual literacy, especially with a view to consumption.
