Resumo: This article aims to discuss the concept of heritage as an element that reproduces dominant values in a patriarchal classist society. By assuming a proposal for a critical national cultural heritage that breaks with the traditional hegemony of the field's discussion, decoloniality and feminist perspective are understood as two intrinsic theoretical paths. A residential exemplar from the 19th century is used to demonstrate that there are possible diagrammatic possibilities for a spatial understanding that complements the official documentation of protected assets. Recognizing that through built heritage it is possible to narrate perspectives ignored by those responsible for documenting history, as well as questioning and/or reaffirming consolidated identities that are often nothing more than myths constructed with specific interests. It is concluded that with appropriate analytical tools, cultural heritage becomes a tool to comprehend spatiality in terms of social construction, allowing for the development of a didactic strategy for a new architectural model.
