Dramaturgy of adaptation, epic theater and anthropomorphization of animals in ‘Juan Darién’ (2015) by Mauricio Kartun

Resumo: Within the dramatic production of Mauricio Kartun, Juan Darién (2015) is analyzed as a dramaturgy of adaptation of the homonymous story by Horacio Quiroga included in his book The Desert (1924). This dramatic text is located in Kartun’s work and the main rewriting operations are characterized, with the aim of specifying a politics of difference. Finally, this article focuses on the development of the anthropomorphization of the serpent character and on his transformation into a narrator-presenter (in the manner of the Brechtian epic theater) and character-delegate.
