Inventory of mobile educational applications dealing with geometry teaching

Resumo: Mobile digital technologies are increasingly present in collective environments, transforming human relationships, and contributing to the teaching and learning processes of mathematics. In this way, the objective of this research is inventory mobile educational applications that contribute to the Geometry teaching. We used a methodology of mixed character since quantitative data were used to make qualitative inferences. We seek to identify free educational apps for Android operating system.  This research was organized in three distinct phases: the survey of mathematical applications and the identification of Geometry applications; the description of the characteristics of the identified applications; and the selection of applications with more than 100.000 downloads.  More than 300 mobile educational applications were initially identified, after using the word geometry as a descriptor, we found 46 applications. Finally, we analyzed ten applications throughout this research. This investigation identified a significant number of free mobile educational applications for the teaching of Geometry, however, it is necessary for the teacher to consciously choose such resources in order to create an interactive, creative and playful educational environment for the development of student learning.

Nesse sentido, o objetivo desta pesquisa é inventariar os aplicativos educacionais móveis que podem apresentar contribuições ao ensino de geometria. Utilizamos uma metodologia de caráter mista, pois foram utilizados dados quantitativos para a realização de inferências qualitativas. Buscamos identificar aplicativos educacionais gratuitos para o sistema operacional Android. Esta pesquisa foi organizada em três fases distintas: o levantamento dos aplicativos de Matemática e a identificação dos aplicativos de geometria; a descrição das características dos aplicativos identificados; e a seleção dos aplicativos com mais de 100.000 downloads.  Foram identificados mais de 300 aplicativos educacionais móveis inicialmente, após utilizarmos como descritor a palavra geometria, encontramos 46 aplicativos. Por fim, fizemos a análise de dez aplicativos ao longo desta pesquisa.
