Resumo: | This paper presents a review of the literature about computer simulations through the didactic strategy predict-observe-explain for teaching physics concepts from 1999 to 2021. The methodology of the work was built following the steps developed by Moreira (2004). They are: choosing the subject and setting the objectives; bibliographic survey; inspection reading; establishment and application of a reading guide; organization of relevant researches according to a logical criterion; critical evaluation and conclusion. The searches were carried out on the Science Direct, Web of Science, Scopus, Scielo and Eric platforms, using the following keywords: “predict observe explain” and “simulations”; “predicir observar explicar” y “simulaciones”; “predizer observar explicar” e “simulações”. After that, the abstracts were read, resulting in fifty-four works that satisfied two restrictions established simultaneously: the use of POE and the use of computer simulations. The analysis of these articles made it possible to identify recurrently cited journals. The identification of these journals allowed, in a second moment, to carry out a more specific search, conducted directly on the web pages of the journals. The search criteria for keywords and publication period were maintained and, thus, eighteen new articles were selected. Therefore, this step resulted in the selection of 72 articles. In the inspection reading stage, an organization of the reading order of the articles was carried out. In the stage of establishing and applying a reading script, among the 72 articles, those that did not meet the following criteria were excluded: 1) Studies that do not deal with the teaching of physics; 2) Studies that do not deal with computer simulations; 3) Studies that do not use the POE; 4) Systematic reviews and 5) Theoretical articles. In the end, 46 articles were excluded. Finally, 26 articles were evaluated according to three categories: research profile, theoretical framework and data collection and their results. The research presents two relevant results: 1) there is a tendency to intensify discussion and writing, with an increase in studies that explore the process of expression and articulation of the student and 2) there is an exhaustion of the conceptual change model and the search for new theoretical formulations in the scope of the development of the POE. At a time when efforts are being made to improve the teaching of physics and formulate projects and actions related to teacher training, review studies like this play an important role in the process. In this sense, teachers, professionals, and academics can use the results to enrich knowledge in the area, improve teaching strategies or even guide the construction of new research. |
