Investigation about the environmental education incorporation in the biology course curriculum

Resumo: The inclusion of Environmental Education (EE) is provided for by the National Curriculum Guidelines for Environmental Education, which require that EE is practiced at all levels, modalities and at the curriculum of all educational institutions. For the inclusion of EE, many challenges need to be overcome, since its effectiveness comprises a complex net of factors involved, one of them being the initial training of future educators who will work at all levels and educational modalities. The curriculum is a factor that directly interferes in teacher education; thus, this article analyzes the inclusion of the socio-environmental dimension in the curricula before and after the implementation of the Guidelines. To this end, two curricula of the Biological Sciences course were analyzed, one from a public higher education institution and the other from a private higher education institution, assessed based on indicators proposed by the Curricular Environmentalization. The results revealed that there was an advance in relation to the insertion of EE in the socio-environmental conception, especially in regard to the social dimension, but that there are still many barriers to overcome in relation to the knowledge of the principles of EE.

O currículo é um fator que interfere diretamente na formação de professores, assim, este artigo analisa a inserção da dimensão socioambiental nos currículos antes e após a implementação das Diretrizes. Para isso foram analisados dois currículos do curso de Ciências Biológicas, um do Ensino Superior Público e outro do Ensino Superior Privado, avaliados a partir de indicadores propostos pela Ambientalização Curricular.
