This “so called” philosophy: about the conceptions of technology and their reflexes on the formative process in engineering

Resumo: The article has as its objective to establish relations between the Critical Theory of Technology – by the philosopher Andrew Feenberg – and education in Engineering. Through the understanding that the social universe and the technological universe find themselves in a narrow relation, this important conception of technological development guides to a more critical and reflective formative process, committed to a collective welfare. As a methodological route we used the bibliographical research and via this we built referrals about the implementation of such an approach in the Engineering courses. In this sense, we suggest: (a) interdisciplinary practices that allow approximation between philosophy of science and philosophy of technology; (b) construction and consolidation of programs around the focus STS; and (c) creation – because of the immediacy of these subjects – of a subject of Technology and Development with contents that deal with the interwoven – and never linear – relation between man, society, science and technology.

Ao entender que o universo social e o universo tecnológico se encontram em estreita relação, essa importante concepção de desenvolvimento tecnológico orienta um processo formativo mais crítico, reflexivo e comprometido com o bem viver coletivo. Como percurso metodológico usamos a pesquisa bibliográfica, e por meio dela construímos encaminhamentos sobre a efetivação dessa abordagem nos cursos de Engenharia.
