Resumo: | This article intends to make considerations about The Raven, a poem by Edgar Allan Poe, from the translations made by four famous authors: Machado de Assis, Fernando Pessoa, Stéphane Mallarmé and Charles Baudelaire. Some perceptions reached were that, although the translations made by Machado and Pessoa were in Portuguese, they bear little resemblance, not only by the fact that the authors belong to distinct cultures, but also different traditions. As for the translations by Mallarmé and Baudelaire, in prose, make us question to what extent the form does not end up superimposing the content. Still through the translations of those four (new?) texts, reflections on identity, authorship and originality become indispensable. |

CULTURAL AND IDENTITARY TRANSLATION: FOUR VIEWS ON THE RAVENTRADUÇÃO CULTURAL E IDENTITÁRIA: QUATRO OLHARES SOBRE THE RAVENTradução Literária – tradição – cultura – identidadeThis article intends to make considerations about The Raven, a poem by Edgar Allan Poe, from the translations made by four famous authors: Machado de Assis, Fernando Pessoa, Stéphane Mallarmé and Charles Baudelaire. Unioeste2011-11-04info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://e-revista.unioeste.br/index.php/travessias/article/view/5571Travessias; Vol. 5 No. 2 (2011)Travessias; Vol. 5 Núm. 2 (2011)Travessias; v. 5 n. 2 (2011)1982-5935reponame:Travessias (Cascavel.
