Resumo: This study addresses educational experience of teachers of municipal schools in the city of Cascavel - Paraná, around the theme of sexual orientation. From the following question: The sexual orientation is a cross-cutting themes of the National Curriculum, how do you work this theme in your disciplines? Answered by 44 teachers in 2006, we found ambiguities in the answers. Analysis of the questionnaires revealed social and cultural values rooted in the minds of teachers about sexuality that are manifest in everyday practices in schools. On one side, still prevails in the pedagogical work with the centrality of sexuality in the biological, the human body and reproductive functions, on the other, there are attempts to broaden the discussions and activities around it. Considering this as an historical, social and cultural construction, it´s understantood that the experiences reported here are results of personal and professional experiences of each teacher coming from the learning that took place throughout their lives, much more than scientific knowledge.

O presente estudo aborda experiências pedagógicas de professores e professoras da rede municipal de ensino da cidade de Cascavel – Paraná, em torno da temática orientação sexual. A partir da seguinte pergunta: Sendo a orientação sexual um dos temas transversais dos Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais, como você trabalha essa temática em suas disciplinas? Respondida por 44 docentes no ano de 2006, constatamos ambivalências nas respostas. A análise dos questionários revelou valores culturais e sociais arraigados no imaginário dos professores e das professoras a respeito da sexualidade que se materializam em práticas cotidianas nas escolas. De um lado, ainda prevalece no trabalho pedagógico com a sexualidade a centralidade nos aspectos biológicos, no corpo humano e nas funções reprodutoras; por outro, existem tentativas de ampliar as discussões e as atividades em torno dela.
