Resumo: In the book Viver sob o fogo, translated from Russian by Professor Aurora Bernardini, the Bulgariam philosopher and linguist Tzvetan Todorov introduces us to Marina Tsvetaieva,one of the most important Russian writers of the 20th. century. We have the opportunityto aknowledge of her time, her world, her life, her long exile and serious crises. Her textshelp us to know something else about Rainer Maria Rilke, Boris Pasternak, even Pushkin.She called herself “the stenographer of being” and had full consciousness of her talent.After a privileged infancy and adolescence she had to face tragic circumstances: the deathof her daughter Irina, starvation, unpublished poems, etc. After 17 years abroad shereturned to USSR with her son to join her husband and daughter Alia. It was the time ofNazi invasion. She hanged herself in 1941, at the age of 49.

She hanged herself in 1941, at the age of 49.Em Viver sob o fogo, livro traduzido do russo pela professora Aurora Bernardini,o filósofo e lingüista búlgaro Tzvetán Todorov apresenta-nos Marina Tsvetáieva2, uma das maiores escritoras russas do século XX. Guiados por Todorov, mergulhamos em textosíntimos (cartas e diários) da poetisa. Através deles, conhecemos a conturbada época em queela viveu, o seu universo, a sua sempre intensa vida, entrecortada por longos exílios emarcada por sérias crises. Seus textos permitem-nos conhecer também um pouco maissobre Rainer Maria Rilke, sobre Boris Pasternak, sobre Puchkin até. Marina Tsvetáieva, oua “estenógrafa do ser”, tinha absoluta consciência de sua genialidade. Depois de umainfância e adolescência privilegiadas, Tsvetáieva passa a enfrentar diariamente todos ostipos de dificuldades: seus textos e poemas são, muitas vezes, recusados pelos editores, afilha Irina morre num orfanato aos três anos de idade, falta comida, etc. Depois de 17 anosde vida no exterior – primeiro na Tchecoslováquia e, em seguida na França – volta com ofilho adolescente para a URSS, onde já estão o marido e a filha Ália. É a época da invasãonazista.
