This article discusses a report of the pedagogical practice in chemistry on the theme of drugs, experienced with a 3rd year high school class and another class of the Normal Course, in a state school in the city of Pranchita (PR). Diverse pedagogical activities refer to the properties, formulas and effects of drugs, licit and illicit, many of which are known to the students, such as alcohol, cigarettes, marijuana, crack, cocaine, and stimulants. The teaching of science is discussed, relating the dimension of learning content with the formative and cultural dimension in a broad sense, encompassing social issues and everyday problems of the students in the classroom, particularly in the context of the theme of drugs in the reality of the students.
