This study has the theme of indigenous infanticide and its general objective is to analyze the perspectives of the practice of indigenous infanticide in relation to the opposition between cultural practice and the idea of human rights. To this end, it addresses human rights and cultural relativism, the historical and conceptual issue of infanticide and indigenous infanticide specifically and, finally, the general aspects of culture versus life. through qualitative and exploratory bibliographic research. Bibliographic and documental research was used, it concludes that based on the international debate on the human rights of indigenous peoples, it is proven that mechanisms of coercion and criminalization are ineffective, which suggests the adoption of measures that promote the internal search for solutions, through dialogue and deliberation, in a work that combines effectiveness in promoting human rights with respect for specificities and differences between groups.
